Seva Safari: igolu Personal Power and Wholeness
September 15 - September 24, 2016
Africa Yoga Project is excited to announce our first ever igolu Personal Power and Wholeness Seva Safari is happening September 2016!
igolu (pronounced I-Goal-You) is a movement committed to the highest good within ourselves while supporting the highest good in others–together creating a greater good for all. igolu works best in groups so people can come together to create and support the best in each other. This Seva Safari is an exciting opportunity to connect to your own personal power and learn to create and co-create goals that elevate humanity.
The focus of all of the igolu work is to give people access to their own direct experience of having power and choice in their lives. This power and choice then translates into being able to lead and manage and design their life based on a future instead of as a reaction to the past.
This Seva Safari offers the unique opportunity to participate in igolu work alongside Africa Yoga Project teachers, get hands on with service work that meet the immediate needs of the local community, and get out into the countryside for safari. If you’ve dreamed of making a difference in the lives of others while gaining the knowledge and tools to design your own life from a place of power and choice, then this is the program for you!
Thursday September 15th:
All participants will arrive in Nairobi by 4:00 p.m on Thursday. We will arrange to have you picked up at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. We will then take you to the guesthouse to meet up with the rest of the group. Program orientation begins at 6pm sharp. We will spend the evening connecting as a group and creating our intention for our time serving together. If you arrive a day early there will be optional trips to the giraffe center and elephant orphanage.
Friday September 16th:
Friday we will start off with a morning yoga practice and give you a chance to get on your mat, sweat off your jet lag, and meet a few Africa Yoga Project teachers. After practice, we will journey into the world of Personal Power and Wholeness with igolu. Today is the first day of this powerful 3 day igolu workshop. We’ll start with the concepts and principles that lay the foundation for powerful vision and goal setting. These practical and inspiring tools show you how to consciously choose your own legacy, how to clear blocks that hinder your ability to create the best in your life, and finally how to create and achieve goals set FROM your own authored vision.
All igolu sessions will involve discussions, journaling, and inquiry exercises to awaken the brain and inspiration within.
Saturday September 17th:
Saturday morning will be your first yoga class at the AYP Shine Center. This is Africa Yoga Project's largest weekly community class, and it will give you a chance to meet many of the Africa Yoga Project teachers and other members of the Africa Yoga Project's yoga community in Nairobi. After practice, you will have more time to get to know the Africa Yoga Project teachers over lunch. Lunch will be followed by some souvenir shopping at the Masai market. In the afternoon, we dive into Day 2 of our igolu workshop, as we discover the power of knowing what you want and the skills of attention, attraction, and focus. We will continue our discussion of principles that will help you create your personal legacy such as “Everything After I AM creates” and “Above The Line, Below The Line.”
We will also deepen our inner hearing today and learn to support others in their own vision and goal writing process.
Sunday September 18th
We will begin this morning with a powerful yoga practice led by Daniel. Today we will bridge vision and goals with leadership, including how to integrate igolu into your projects and groups at home. We’ll equip our integrated leadership toolkit and learn to resolve challenges and breakdowns in ways that lead to learning and excellence. This is where your yoga, igolu, and life meet and you will leave this trip ready to take on BIG THINGS!
The last day of igolu training will be spent tying together the igolu triad of Legacy, Responsibility, and Leadership. We will work together to refine our vision and goals, clear real-life blockages to achieving our goals, and prepare our re-entry plan for integrating your vision and goals into your life.
By this time you will have an extensive toolkit for authoring your life and ways to continue your vision and goal writing indefinitely.
Monday September 19th - Wednesday 21st
These days will begin with a powerful yoga practice in the morning followed by breakfast at the guesthouse. After breakfast you will dive into service! You will spend the day working on a service project based on the current needs of the community. After service work you will head back to your accommodation for dinner and an evening check-in.
Wednesday September 21st - Friday September 23rd:
The group will travel to your new accommodations on Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. This will be the opportunity to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and bird wildlife that thrives at Lake Naivasha. We will embark on an adventurous bike safari in Hell’s Gate and enjoy a hike in the park. Friday morning we will venture out to take a boat safari to explore Crescent Island for wildlife viewing and see hippos in their natural habitat. We will then journey through the countryside and head back to Nairobi. We arrive at the guesthouse in the late afternoon to settle back into our rooms and digest the week. We will come together for dinner and an evening check-in to share the experiences of our travels.
Saturday September 24th:
Saturday morning we will wake up, enjoy a full breakfast and join the Africa Yoga Project community for one more yoga class at the Shine Center. You will have time after practice to enjoy the company of the Africa Yoga Project teachers and students. After we will have a final celebratory lunch together as a team.
