Baptiste AYP, Art of Assisting, Acroyoga, Prenatal and Yoga for the Special Child certified
The first classes I taught felt like a juggling act. It still felt so new attempting to remain aware of the sequence I was leading, what the next pose will be, worrying about my body language or energy levels, staying conscious of the health of the participants to make sure no one injures him or herself--plainly I was overwhelmed. It was through the comfort and community of other AYP teachers as well as a belief in myself and abilities that allowed me to realize how much the program was changing me. By attending different workshops, making eye contact with my smiling students as they enjoy the exertion of the flow, and connecting with my community of fellow teachers and students I opened up my soul and mind. As I strive to live in the moments of calmness, stillness, happiness, and pure positivity I have grown more confident in my abilities both in teaching and in life.
AYP has afforded me the opportunity to travel the world through the Handstand, Hugs, and Happiness (HHH) Tour as well as the #HereToBe tour which was a collaboration between AYP and Lululemon Athletica. Through these trips, I have gained self confidence and made many connections with everyone I met. It inspired me to speak out, live in the present and to dream big for the future. Within these dreams I hope to travel more and further share the vision of AYP worldwide.
I am certified Baptiste yoga teacher and have completed the 200hr Africa Yoga Project teacher training in 2014, and the Baptiste Level II in New York in 2016. I have assisted the 200hr in Kenya as well as the Level II in Sedona both in 2016. I am also certified in the Art of Assisting, Acroyoga, Prenatal yoga, and yoga for the special child.
Currently I am teaching five outreach classes all over Nairobi, but have taught up to twelve per week in the past. By far my favorite class is the one I teach those with special needs. For the past year and a half, I have watched my students grow into their own power and become more comfortable with themselves. I am interested in teaching students of all kinds through private and group classes.
