Seva is the Sanskrit word for “selfless service” and safari is the Swahili word for “journey or trip”.
On a Seva Safari trip with Africa Yoga Project, that is exactly what you will be getting – a selfless service journey. It is a trip that will change your life and the lives you touch forever. Any one of our Seva Safari trips will leave you with a deeper understanding of your purpose and how you are being for others. Our team works with you to ensure the experience begins the moment you register!
Seva Safari promises to reignite the way you see the world around you, energize the relationships in your life, and inspire a greater enthusiasm for being of service. If you have ever wanted to go on an international adventure to explore, learn and connect, while contributing to the development of sustainable projects that positively impact others, then this is the program for you.
Our trips are driven first and foremost by the needs of the local community. Each trip is a new adventure. Through daily yoga practice, working closely with the Africa Yoga Project team, and your own personal development, this trip has proven time and time again to be the journey of a lifetime.

Falling in love with Kenya has nothing to do with the tangible aspects of the experience, I fell in love with Kenya because she taught me to be the person I have always wanted to be, igniting my truth, accelerating my teaching in a way I didn’t think was possible. AYP Teacher Training gave me the ability to see the courage, the beauty, the work, the rhythm and the joy of Kenya in my own soul. The motherland pulls back hard because it is there, on her soil, with her people, I have found the strength to the be teacher, leader, sister, daughter, wife, friend I always wanted to be. The paradox is not lost on me, even though I am there to teach, assist, educate…it is the people of Kenya that have taught me how to live my life. ON FIRE.

Umoja means unity in Swahili. No matter where you come from, we are all one.
The concept of Umoja is that we are one unified human collective. We may have our own backgrounds, stories, likes and dislikes, but together we are one. Every yoga practice reminds us....we are one.

The concept of Umoja is that we are one unified human collective. We may have our own backgrounds, stories, likes and dislikes, but together we are one.
My name is Teresa, and I'm hosting a Seva Safari - a service trip - to Kenya in October 2020. The first time I went to Kenya, I had an amazing experience that I couldn't describe in words. Until I learned this concept of Umoja. Oneness. Unity.
I know yoga has the power to create Umoja. Once I am on the mat, I find a sense connection, calm and a healing that I can't find anywhere else.
The opportunity to see first-hand the good that AYP does for the African community was amazing; people come together from all over Africa and the rest of the world to share the practice, to learn and become self-sufficient in their lives. The experience was life changing, the feeling of community and the healing I saw was so deeply moving, now....
I'm going back, and I want you to come, too.
