The Ambassador Program is an opportunity to embody service in action. We invite individuals who are up for something BIG and ready to step into leadership as a catalyst for change in the global yoga community.
Becoming a part of the Ambassador team is about embodying the mission of Africa Yoga Project, building connection, and being dedicated to raising USD 10,000 to support the use of yoga to elevate individuals and empower communities.
Upon reaching their fundraising pledge, Ambassadors are invited to join the team in Kenya where they will spend 14 days working directly with our teachers and the communities that Africa Yoga Project empowers. The theme of the first week is “receiving.” Ambassadors experience this by attending, observing, and assisting in various outreach settings, such as: informal settlements, prisons and schools. For the second week, “giving” is the theme and ambassadors share their strengths and skills with the Africa Yoga Project teachers in a workshop format. The workshop topic is determined with the help of the AYP team and ambassadors develop the curriculum prior to leaving for Kenya. Examples of workshop themes include: meditation, massage, kids yoga, acro yoga, prenatal yoga, special needs yoga, art, goal setting, business strategy, social media, etc.
Becoming an Africa Yoga Project Ambassador is a commitment that extends far beyond the 14 days in Kenya. It is a transformational journey which empowers leadership, builds community, raises funds and elevates awareness before, during and after your trip to Kenya.
AYP accommodates two to three Ambassadors each month. If traveling as an individual, you will likely be paired with another Ambassador. Previous Ambassadors found this support network to be invaluable in their experience.

Being an ambassador for AYP has changed my life. My trip to Africa changed the way I view the world, what it means to truly be of service and the way I can be of service to my own family and community. My yoga practice and teaching exploded! I saw what off the hook, fearless and authentic teaching is, first hand, and it freed me from what was holding me back. Being a part of AYP has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life! And I'm not done!"

Umoja means unity in Swahili. No matter where you come from, we are all one.
The concept of Umoja is that we are one unified human collective. We may have our own backgrounds, stories, likes and dislikes, but together we are one. Every yoga practice reminds us....we are one.

The concept of Umoja is that we are one unified human collective. We may have our own backgrounds, stories, likes and dislikes, but together we are one.
My name is Teresa, and I'm hosting a Seva Safari - a service trip - to Kenya in October 2020. The first time I went to Kenya, I had an amazing experience that I couldn't describe in words. Until I learned this concept of Umoja. Oneness. Unity.
I know yoga has the power to create Umoja. Once I am on the mat, I find a sense connection, calm and a healing that I can't find anywhere else.
The opportunity to see first-hand the good that AYP does for the African community was amazing; people come together from all over Africa and the rest of the world to share the practice, to learn and become self-sufficient in their lives. The experience was life changing, the feeling of community and the healing I saw was so deeply moving, now....
I'm going back, and I want you to come, too.
